Now that summer has approached and we are rolling into July this weekend, it is also UV Protection Month! It is nice to take in the summer rays and get a golden glow, but we also cannot forget to protect our skin and eyes from the UV rays.
Too much skin exposure to the sun can create skin cancer, damage to the eyes, melanoma, and aging of the skin. To minimize these harmful risk, here are a few helpful tips from Block the Blaze to help protect the eyes and skin:
1. Cover up by wearing a hat and protective shades.
2. Staying in the shade between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. will protect the skin.
3. And of course the most important, using sunscreen on most exposed parts of the body.
There are hundreds of charities and organizations regarding skin cancer education that rate awareness and teach about sun safety and protecting youreselves against skin cancer. Through education we can avoid dangers in the future!
With the mention of sunscreen, Monkey challenges has created an exciting challenge for the month of July, called the UV Sunscreen Sketch! UV Sunscreen Sketch will challenge users to create a masterpiece on their skin with sunscreen or other forms of sun protection. It is a great way to have fun and be creative, while still protecting your skin!
We can’t wait to see all the sunscreen masterpieces!
